Great photo. My grandparents owned Cellini’s at 1710 back when this picture was taken. When we where kids, (1960-70’s) we lived above the grocery store and did all of our shopping on Passyunk. Looking at the snap shot I thought about the many times I went to Shermans drug store on the corner of Moore st. He sold out to Rite Aid. That is now the large empty store front in the 1800 block. Jarman shoes, the Army and Navy, Jays and MBC Clothing where places we shopped on the avenue. In the distance on the photo, in the top right, you can see “FURN”. That was floor crafters, now Interior Concepts. I lived around the avenue until about 1975, moved to the burbs, but returned about 8 years ago and now live back on Passyunk. My wife and I own a building since 1978 on Passyunk ave and rent the 1st floor to one of the “pioneer” restaurants on Passyunk. They have been there 23 years. Thanks for posting the photo.
I do like Plenty, but I really miss Cellini’s.
Wow, is that Prudy’s orange VW bug on the left side just past the Prudy’s Arc Sign? If so, did it have the front Rolls Royce front hood on it in 1975?
