First Pics: Amigos Bakery opens at near 12th and Wolf
A bakery called Amigos has opened in a little corner storefront that used to be another bakery.
The new shop, owned by Alberto Sandoval, opened last weekend at 2327 S. 12th St. with a limited selection of pastries made in house. Available now are cupcakes, muffins, biscotti, cookies and other items, plus chocolate-covered bananas and strawberries and Mexican specialties like ricos panes.
Sandoval said he’ll soon have tiramisu, cannoli and other Italian delights. Maybe that’s a nod to the location’s past as Criniti’s Italian Pastries?
He and his wife, Isabella, also make chocolate and will be accepting orders for specialty cakes.
You can find them on Facebook here. Hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. Phone: 215-462-7320

Facebook is evil anyway…
Alberto was so nice when I went in. I can’t wait to see what he comes out with! I love having a bakery one block from my house.
I checked it out! This place is so cool! They’re such nice people! And they have great stuff! I miss the days when there was an honest to goodness bakery on every corner… Being in my early 30’s, I grew up here when most of them were closing except for the big name places… Potito’s, Varallo’s, Isgro’s, Termini’s… But there used to be almost as many bakeries as there were cheesesteak shops! Good for them! I wish them well! And I plan on trying to come by regularly… I hope they have some good cookie trays around Christmas time!!!
