Well, hello there. Liquor license appears on former Ugly American joint
EDITOR’S NOTE: This post has been updated from an earlier version.
So, remember how we brought you that news that Ugly American on Front and Ellsworth streets in Pennsport could soon become a restaurant yet again? Well, look what popped up on the front window recently — a beautiful orange liquor license!
The license, which lists the address as 1100 S. Front Street and zip code as 19104 (which is incorrect), is issued to No Eye Deer LLC. We hoping that’s not because the new owners have “no idea” what they’re doing with place. Fingers crossed. CORRECTION: D’oh! The license is being transferred FROM No Eye Deer to BMSS Holdings. Now who’s the one without a clue.
Back in May, we heard from listing agent Lisa Santore that the new owners were looking to create a restaurant and bar similar to that of nearby For Pete’s Sake at Front and Christian streets. She also mentioned that brunch was in the plans. While property records still indicate the last date of sale is still in 2007 (for $541,685), the listing was taken off of Zillow in May, with the site listing that it had sold for $450,000. As always, we’ll keep you posted once we know more.

Not the best reading of signs ever done. The license is being transferred *from* No Eye Deer *to* BMSS Holdings LLC. The license includes the following applicants:
Name:
MICHAEL J DAMIANO – (PENDING) Title(s):
MEMBER
Name:
SEAN T GLYNN – (PENDING) Title(s):
MANAGER/STEWARD
Name:
BRYAN TONE – (PENDING) Title(s):
MEMBER
Sean Glynn seems likely to be the one who appears to have been affiliated with closed Old City’s 879 Lounge, according to this not particularly flattering 2012 article: http://articles.philly.com/2012-01-27/sports/30670724_1_celek-legal-limit-state-police.
Is it legal to build all the way out in the sidewalk like that?
dates back to when it was an italian restaurant back in the day. i always wondered the same thing. must be grandfathered or something.
