Chhaya’s bigger location two doors up is scheduled to open Aug. 21
The much bigger location for Chhaya, the waffle cafe/coffeeshop, plans to open at 1819 E. Passyunk Ave. on Aug. 21.
Owner V Beuria has closed the original spot at 1823 E. Passyunk Ave. in preparation for the move, which we told you about back in February.
You can expect much of the same atmosphere as the original location, but with much more room to stretch your legs. The new place is about double the size of the old one, with room for about 60 seats, including 10 on the sidewalk outside. There will also be 14 spots at a laptop station, cushy seating and a coffee bar.
Hours at the new location will start out as Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and weekends from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the kitchen closing daily at 3:30 p.m.
Nice! I like that place. I love the move and the larger capacity.
What, no love for Toner Architects? We’ve been hard at work on this for several months. V is a great client, and the new space is looking good.
Proper shout out to Ian Toner (of the Economist fame) and and his design crew for what I expect will be an amazing upgraded addition to the Avenue.
If you need your Chhaya coffee fix in the mornings, they are actually selling both hot and cold brew coffee on the sidewalk for now.
