Italian Market celebrates 100 years with yearlong celebrations
The South 9th Street Italian Market is celebrating 100 years. That’s right, the Italian Market, which is the oldest continuously operated outdoor market in the country, has been in operation since the early 1900s.
To celebrate such a huge milestone, a series of events will be held from April through December.
The yearlong events, or “Cent’anni” celebration, will include the biggest event in May, the Italian Market Festival, along with smaller events like a food truck event, a bocce & copa tournament, outdoor concerts, Mexican Independence Day celebrations and more. The yearlong celebrations will then conclude with a New Year’s Eve Day Toast Party.
Want to see more growth in the Italian Market market in the future? The S. 9th St. Business Improvement District study is looking for feedback on how the area can be improved.
