Dog Day Afternoon at Columbus Square Park on May 17
Columbus Square Park has gone to the dogs.
On May 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Columbus Square will become the ultimate dog park for your fido friends.
Normally dogs aren’t allowed to have the run of the whole park, but on this one day, your dogs will have full roam. Dog Day Afternoon will allow any Philadelphia dog owner to bring their pups to take advantage of the block-sized, fenced-in space for the day.
In addition to letting your pooch have a little more freedom to run around, there will be other doggie-related things happening that day too. The event will include various vendors including pet adoption (just in case you don’t have a dog to bring with you to the event, you can find your furever companion here), professional pet walkers and trainers, veterinary services, treats, toys and more.
The event is being run by the South Philadelphia Association of Dog Owners. Any money raised at the event will go directly towards the revitalization of the Columbus Square dog run .
If you’re planning to bring your dog with you, admission costs $5 per dog in advance, or $10 day-of. Don’t have a dog, but still want to join in on the fun? Tickets are $2 if you’d like to attend without a dog.
If you’re planning on attending, you can enter the park through the 12th and Reed Street entrance.
Want to know more about the event? You can find more on the Facebook event page.
Are dogs required to be on leash for this event?
Dogs will be allowed to run freely (off leash) on the large athletic field
