10th Street to remain closed for weeks while sinkhole is repaired
Have you noticed the road closed sign and work happening on 10th Street between Tasker and Morris? Well, that section of 10th Street will remain closed for a few more weeks. The reason for the closure of 10th Street is because of a sinkhole and water main leak discovered at the intersection.
More from a East Passyunk Crossing Civic Association Facebook post:
Update on the street closure at 10th and Tasker. Councilman Mark Squilla’s office acted quickly and alerted the Water Dept about the sink hole at this intersection. A water main leak was found that would have caused major damage to the surrounding neighbors if not fixed in a timely manner. The street will remain closed for the next couple weeks as work continues.

FYI it wasn’t squillas office who contacted pwd, it was me. first I called 311 but they were closed because it was Saturday, then I called 911, who came out and put cones in the road then I called water dept. this was done in March when the road first started opening up at the intersection of 10th and fernon sts. this happened bc of water line break. they repaired it, and in the process broke my gas line, then filled in hollow ground and sewer line with concrete. no good. now it’s time to dig and replace concrete filled sewage line and old rusty water line.
