Philly 10k returns to the streets of South Philly for a second year
For a second year, the Philly 10k will be hitting the streets of South Philly.
While registration filled up quickly, just like last year, you can still expect to see 4,500 runners making their way through the neighborhood on a course that travels throughout South Philly from the race’s South Street start.
The race starts at 7:30 a.m. on August 30 at 8th and South Streets. This year’s new course then travels down 6th Street to Snyder Avenue, then traveling through East Passyunk on its way back north to the course’s finish at 5th and Pine.
Last year registration filled up in just 70 minutes and this year, with the addition of 1,500 more registrations, the race still filled up fast.
Although the standard registration is full, there still might be a chance to run the race with one of the event’s charity partners, which you can find more info about here.
If you’re one of the lucky people who managed to sign up for this race, not only do you get to run through South Philly, but you’ll also be rewarded for the completion of the 10k with a complimentary beer from the Philadelphia Brewing Company, free Shake Shack custard infused with Federal Donuts and more.
But even if you didn’t manage to register in time, there’s still plenty of fun to be had as a spectator. Although you won’t be getting a free beer and custard, there will also be food vendors like Honeygrow, Agno Grill, Wahoo’s Fish Tacos and more. The post-race festivities will be happening on 5th Street from Lombard to Bainbridge, South from 6th to 4th and Bainbridge from 5th to 4th.
While this year’s course doesn’t start and end in East Passyunk like last year, there’s still plenty of South Philly fun to be had at this August 30 race.
