Dry cleaner opening next week at 23rd and Christian
A new dry cleaner is opening at 2300 Christian St.
Although the open sign is lit up in this photo, they won’t officially be open until Monday, June 8.
The shop uses InnoClean, which is an eco-friendly dry cleaning process with an odor-free, non-toxic solvent.
They’re still in the process of figuring out rates and hours for the shops, but will be offering 50% off for a few months when they first open.
InnoClean is simply the name of the machine — this type of machine can be configured for wet cleaning and can also be loaded with different types of “class 3a hydrocarbon” solvents. Many hydrocarbon solvents are petroleum-based and made by the likes of Shell, Chevron, or ExxonMobil. Hydrocarbon solvents can also contain “Volatile Organic Compounds” — VOCs can contribute to smog in our air, and may also cause asthmatic, allergic and respriatory reactions in humans.
In my opinion, the most environmentally friendly solvents are glycol-ether alcohol based solvents, and they have the strongest cleaning abilities compared to other solvents.
This article does not indicate which solvent this dry cleaning operator is using, so I think the author’s comments about a non-toxic cleaning process could potentially be very inaccurate.
