First Pics: South Street PHS pop-up garden now open
Check back tomorrow for pictures of the 9th and Wharton pop-up garden.
This year instead of just one pop-up garden, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society has decided to open a total of three–and two of them are conveniently located here in South Philly.
The first of the three gardens to open was the garden at 1438 South St., which opened on Thursday, May 28.
This is the second year for this South Street pop-up garden in the lot next to Jamaican Jerk Hut.
This year the garden has a bit more of a bohemian vibe. This garden was designed by Karen Regan of Tallulah & Bird.
The design of the garden includes a lot of wooden elements with tree stumps as tables, the large wooden pergola as the garden’s center piece and more.
Since this is a garden, of course there is a ton of greenery to create an urban oasis space. You can see different kinds of plants scattered around the space, including a lot of smaller accent pieces on the tables throughout the garden.
This is a beer garden after all, so don’t forget about the food and drink you’ll be having here. The food truck is from Dietz & Watson and the beers at this garden will include brews from Barren Hill brewery and more.
This pop-up garden is open from noon to 10 p.m. from Monday through Thursday, noon through midnight on Friday, 2 p.m. through midnight on Saturday, and noon through 10 p.m. on Sunday.
Although you can hang out at the garden during those hours, seven days a week this summer, there are more limited hours for the food and drink at the garden. Food and drink will be served here from 5 p.m. through 10 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, 2 p.m. through midnight on Friday and Saturday, and noon through 10 p.m. on Sunday.
