Passyunk Post surpasses half a million unique visitors. Wow.
Hi folks,
It’s almost Thanksgiving, so we here at Passyunk Post would like to take a step back and thank all of you, our loyal readers, for supporting us for the past three and a half years. And as it turns out, there are a lot of you to thank.
According to Google Analytics, the Post’s readership has just surpassed an amazing 500,000 unique visitors since we launched in July 2012. Even more astonishing, more than 300,000 of those are readers who have returned to the site after getting a taste of our style of hyperlocal content. Mind you, only about 160,000 people live in the four South Philly ZIP codes, so it goes to show you how much people are interested in our neighborhood.
We started out with only a few posts a week, and now with more than 2,000 posts under our belt, we’re stronger than ever. We recently made a series of minor tweaks to improve the reader experience, getting rid of a bunch of unnecessary clutter and adding a handful of elements. Now on the article page, you’ll see lists of popular stories at the bottom of the text, a continuous scroll after each article to show the most recent stories and better social sharing (see that new Twitter button down there?).
We also got rid of all national advertising to focus on local businesses only and help them stand out among all the Google ads that following you.
As the new year rolls in, you’ll be seeing even more changes. More content, more writers, more advertising options — so 2016 will be our best year yet.
Thanks again for reading, and as always, if you see something you’d want to tell your neighbor about, tell us: on Twitter, on Facebook or in an email to punk@passyunkpost.com. We couldn’t do it without you.

Congrats! So proud of you! You’ve come a long way from posting creep shots of babies and insulting them online.
Not sure what that means, but … thanks?
You launched 87 years from now? Please tell me your time travel secrets 😉
Haha. We’ll never tell! Thanks for pointing out the typo.
This site is a lot of fun to comment on and the articles are great. Thanks for providing the latest and greatest of Passyunk.
I love The Passyunk Post!
And we love you
has URBN, Inc. approached you for a buyout yet?!
Congratulations! – It’s been and continues to be a real treat to read each day.
Haha, not yet. Thank you!
So if Philadelphia(passyunk) doesn’t live up to its full potential does that mean the website will fail?
Then again how can we go without another 30 or 50 bars/cafes/Mexican restaurants/thai/ who knows what trends are to come and how much you can abuse those trends to turn a profit. Oh joy!
Half a million unique visits is huge, but does one hipster reading on his iPhone, his iPad, and his MacBook count as three “unique visitors?”
Regardless, kudos!!
Yes, unless they have a unique login, it is impossible to count between the 3.
