Teri’s bar on 9th Street plagued by fire yet again
A fire tore through the Teri’s bar building in the Italian Market yesterday morning.
According to 6ABC the fire began early in the morning, around 6:45 a.m. This is the second fire in just over a year for the former Teri’s bar location at 1128 S. 9th St.
This former neighborhood bar was damaged in August of 2014 with a fire. Now this second blaze adds to the bad luck of this location. There’s no word on the cause of the fire or the amount of damage sustained here.
Prior to the two fires here, the bar had changed ownership after the original owner’s passing. At that time, you saw changes to the exterior of the location, with a brighter appearance.
There had been some signs of life here a few months ago, but that obviously didn’t pan out.
Unfortunately, the location looked pretty much the same before and after the fire. It’s quite the eyesore, and now, a hazard to the block. It’s really jarring being a neighboring resident displaced up by sirens twice in one year (once in a lifetime is enough for most people!). Definitely scary.
Please keep us updated on any progress or plans being made for the space! Hopefully something (anything!) will come along soon.
Thanks!
