Preschool called Project P.L.A.Y. announces move to Bok
So far Fringe hair salon and Hive76 makerspace have confirmed their moves to the Bok School. Now a preschool can be added to that list.
Project P.L.A.Y. will be joining the ranks of Bok with their play-based preschool for children between the ages of 27 months through 5 years old.
This new preschool is the first confirmed educational offering to open at Bok. Project P.L.A.Y. has been based out of Elkins Park since 2005 under the direction of educators Karen Chayot and Kathy Goldenberg.
This new program at Bok will utilize a classroom space in the school. The preschool will encourage playing and the creation of sincere relationships with friends, family and the community, utilizing the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education.
Not only will this preschool have the indoor classroom space, but thanks to the Knight Foundation grant Bok received to remake the grounds as a “South Philly stoop,” there will be an area outside of the school dedicated as an outdoor play space for the children.
Project P.L.A.Y. School will be open to students in September 2016. If you’re interested in checking out the space or enrolling your child in the program, you can visit the P.L.A.Y. School’s classroom at an open house on Saturday, January 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can find more information about that event here.
