Two upcoming open houses will give a glimpse of changes at Bok
The changes have been rolling in at Bok, with new businesses announcing their moves and the first floor of the former tech school now being full of tenants.
Over the summer many of you got a glimpse of the rooftop of Bok, but now’s your chance to see the progress that two of these businesses are making in their portions of the building. Both Hive76 and Project P.L.A.Y. are hosting open houses this weekend.
At Hive76, you’ll have a chance to see this co-op workspace, or “hackerspace” as they’ve dubbed it, including everything from 3D printers and soldering irons to their giant games and tech-related fun with a giant Connect Four, karaoke and more. Now that they’re open in the space, they will be hosting weekly open houses on Wednesday nights in case you don’t have a chance to come in and see it this weekend. Whether you’re looking to become a member, want to take one of their classes, or simply want to see the cool stuff they do, this open house is for you. Their open house will be at the Bok School from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, January 29. Find out more about Hive76 here.
The other business showing off their new space is Project P.L.A.Y., the play-based preschool that will be opening here in September. Parents who are looking to enroll in this school, or simply those who want to see what they have going in the space, can check out their open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 30. This preschool will be utilizing a classroom, in addition to a space outside of the school for outdoor playtime. You can RSVP for that event here.
So sad to see my alma mater closed, but excited to see what’s next!
