PSPCA offering animal adoptions and services in South Philly through Monster Pets
Monster Pets, the family-owned and operated pet supply store at 1946 S. Columbus Blvd., has teamed up with the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to offer pet adoption and other services.
This new partnership is now allowing the PSPCA to expand into South Philadelphia and beyond as part of the organization’s initiative of “Spreading Out To Save More Lives.”
Over the span of a few months, Monster Pets began hosting in-store adoption days and have since gradually expanded their partnership with the PSPCA. Now they have adoptable cats in the store daily, along with in-store adoption days on weekends with a selection of dogs that are seeking forever homes.
More from Philly.com:
Chris Fischuk, the South Philly manager of Monster Pets, said he’s seen dozens of successful adoptions and lots of neighborhood residents bringing their pets in for low-cost vaccinations during the partnership with PSPCA’s first couple of months.
Fischuk said he and his staff were trained at PSPCA to work with pet lovers who want to adopt a cat or a dog.
The services offered here don’t stop with adoption. There are twice-monthly clinics for low-cost vaccinations, along with seasonal fundraising campaigns to keep raising money for the PSPCA’s efforts. In the near future there will also be spay and neuter transports from this Monster Pets location so owners don’t need to drive to PSPCA’s location in North Philly to be responsible pet owners. This would allow you to drop your dog or cat off in the morning at this South Philly location where they will then be transported to the PSPCA’s headquarters for surgery and be returned to Monster Pets later that same day.
Monster Pets also has a location in Fairmount and another in Audubon, NJ. You can find out more on Monster Pets’ website.
