Sponsored Post: Check out the new pool at FitnessWorks gym, 714 Reed St.
Feel like taking a dip in the pool, and get fit along the way? South Philly’s homegrown gym, Fitness Works 714 Reed St., has completely renovated its indoor, heated saltwater pool and it’s ready for your efforts to get in beach body shape.
The 15-meter pool on the gym’s underground level ranges in depth from 3 to 5 feet, and it’s kept about 83 degrees year round. A new technology uses salt water chlorine generation, so it’s less harsh on your eyes and hair than traditional pools.
The deck around the pool was recently resurfaced. Floats, noodles and kickboards are available for use, but make sure to bring a towel.
Fitness Works offers aqua aerobics classes, including “Water Works” on Thursdays at 7 p.m., which involves some lap swimming. All of the other classes are suitable for non-swimmers who just want to get a great low-impact workout using the natural resistance of the water.
Here’s that line-up:
Aqua Aerobics – Tuesdays 7 p.m.
Aqua Aerobics – Wednesdays 9 a.m.
Water Works – Thursdays 7 p.m.
Aqua Fit – Saturdays 9:30 a.m.
Fitness Works also offers swim lessons for everyone from infants to adults, no membership required, for learning basic swimming to improving your stroke, to training for triathlons. Generally, you should call the gym or info@fitnessworksphiladelphia.com for scheduling and more info. Stop by any time to take a look around.
And you can plan for children’s pool parties on weekends in our separate “party room” where you can set up food and have cake after pool time.
The pool is open and available to members (and guests) any time Fitness Works is open (other than during aqua classes). Even during busy swim lesson times, the gym keeps at least one swim lane open.
With regard to the rest of the gym, Fitness Works has recently added some new treadmills from LifeFitness, Arc Trainers by Cybex, dumbbells from UMAX Strength and some leg equipment from Hammer Strength. It still offers more than 40 classes every week that are included with membership – from Boot Camp classes to Spinning, Zumba, Yoga, Pilates and more.
And don’t forget PHL Athletics down the street at 1414 S Darien St. with CrossFit, CrossFit Kids, sports training and athlete conditioning.
I just tried emailing ’emailinfo@fitnessworksphiladelphia.com’ and it got kicked back to me. Is that definitely the correct email address? Thanks
Mike F- remove the word email and just send it to info@fitnessworksphiladelphia.com
