Hawthorne Park to kick off summer series of monthly jazz performances on Thursday
Hawthorne Park, located at 12th and Catharine, will be continuing its summer jazz night tradition again this year.
Starting on May 19, the park will play host to free jazz performances on the third Thursday of each month from now through August.
This family-friendly series will kick off with a performance from Philly saxophonist, Odean Pope and his quartet on Thursday. Other performances throughout the series includes drummer Vince Ector on June 16, Breckerville on July 21, and Latin musician DeTierre Caliente on August 18.
These events are put on by Friends of Hawthorne Park, in partnership with the non-profit Jazz Bridge, which focuses on assisting jazz and blues musicians in the area.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. The concerts begin at 7 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m. You can find out more on the Facebook event page.
