Snyder Plaza is getting a mural makeover
The Mural Arts Program has a big project happening in South Philly. Snyder Plaza is getting a colorful makeover with murals from four artists.
The box stores that occupy the plaza are already beginning to look less like a generic shopping center and more like a colorful destination.
The new murals include pieces by Steve Powers, Isaac Tin Wei Lin, Joe Boruchow and Peter Ferrari.
The colorful new pieces are set to be unveiled at a Mural Arts Month opening party on Friday, September 30 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will include live music, food trucks, performances by Circadium, live painting from street artists and more. You can find the event page on Facebook.
Some much-needed color in an otherwise bland sea of beige and asphalt. What’s next, some traffic lights? One can only dream.
Agree 100% about the need for a traffic light. Trying to cross Snyder to catch a westbound bus or shop in the other part of the plaza is treacherous. One can walk up to Front Street to cross, try to cross at the four way stop (and hope the cars will actually wait for you to cross safely) or jaywalk from Rite Aid.
I have seen the Rite Aid, they are doing a great job, looks wonderful! I have called three to see if a light might be installed. Dreaming too!
