Rowhouse Grocery launches Kickstarter to raise money for locally-owned Point Breeze food market
In the spring we told you about a locally-owned grocery that would be opening across from the Abbott’s Alderney Dairy at 1713 McKean St.
The building for that market, to be called Rowhouse Grocery, is currently under construction. To make this community grocery store a reality, the the team behind Rowhouse Grocery has taken to Kickstarter to help raise money for some of the necessary equipment for this new business.
Rowhouse will be a grocery store for produce and pantry items, along with a coffee bar and kitchen. Once they are open, you’ll be able to shop for food, grab a cup of coffee or lunch, and maybe even take a cooking class in the location. They are hoping to raise $10,000 to be able to outfit the space with refrigerators, a POS System, shelving and displays, scales, water filtration, a coffee grinder, brewing equipment and a commercial range and oven. In addition to the Kickstarter campaign, they are also working to acquire a small business loan.
As of Monday, December 5, they have raised $3,600 of the $10,000 goal. If you’d like to support this Point Breeze community grocery store, you can donate to the Kickstarter.
The property’s owner is currently working on having the space renovated. If all goes as planned, Rowhouse could be open to the public in the summer of 2017.
