First Pics: Analog Watch Co. opens at 1214 Moore St.
The conversion of the corner storefront at 1214 Moore St. has been completed from massage studio to showroom for the fledgling Analog Watch Co.
Owner Lorenzo Buffa began selling his first line of wooden watches and wallets — “inspired by nature” — from here last month. The airy showroom, which apparently once served as an hq for the South Philly mob, has a limited amount of merchandise for sale from Buffa’s Carpenter collection.
Buffa said the designs sprung from his thesis project as a student in industrial design at University of the Arts. He’s exploring more natural materials to expand his line, hoping to offer more items in five to six months.
Besides his work with watches, Buffa also champions a web series called Hands On, which trumpets the region’s manufacturing past by highlighting the people, processes and machines that carry on the tradition. The hope is that by compiling some of the manufacturing resources around Philly, he can introduce small designers to them, helping them, for example, to turn an Etsy store into a sustainable business. Find more info on the Hands On program on Analog’s slick website click here.
Hours are “usually 11 to 5-ish” Tuesday to Friday, noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Stop by and say hi to Lorenzo.
Thats awesome. I remember seeing this on Kickstarter a while back. glad to see it made it to production.
