Revolution Shakespheare presents free ‘Macbeth’ showings at Hawthorne Park in October

Something wicked this way comes

…as Revolution Shakespeare, a Philadelphia-based theater company, will put on  free showings of their New Orleans-themed adaptation of William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth.” Shows will be Oct. 3-5, and Oct. 8-12, with each one starting at 7 p.m.

In case you were wondering what Revolution Shakespeare’s NOLA adaptation would look like, here’s a snippet about the upcoming show:

Through music and mysticism, this Macbeth will explore passion and ambition in the streets of New Orleans. The productions will integrate a live second line brass band into the world of castle Dunsinane and feature a Pape Legba-inspired character to link royalty with the ruinous underworld of the Bard’s famous witches. The diverse cast will explore the timelessness and deep history of magic, so palpable in New Orleans.

We’ve got to admit, that sounds pretty damn cool. So bring a blanket and enjoy the menacing world of Shakespeare’s Macbeth at beautiful Hawthorne Park at 12th and Catharine Street this October.
