Police need your help to catch the Grinch Who Stole Halloween
The Philadelphia Police Department have put together a little video package this Halloween.
Although this time, it’s not teaching parents how to thoroughly inspect eat candy or proper safety precautions for trick-or-treating. It’s about finding justice for the people having their Halloween decorations lifted from the front of a house on the 1100 block of Fitzgerald St. in LoMo. You’ve got to see the video.
Set to “This Is Halloween” from The Nightmare Before Christmas, the video shows a woman stepping out of a car to survey the scene. Taking her time, she settles on a mechanical monster butler. Having trouble with the wiring, she calmly sits on the step and unravels the undead Jeeves before sauntering back to the car. “It was a butler,” owner Josephine told 6ABC. “He had a big bird on its shoulder that talked and you walked by and it could talk.”
The incident took place around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 23 and here’s the thing, not only is it not the first time it’s happened to this house, let alone on this block. Last year, two Santas were stolen from Josephine’s step. Thankfully, the thieves were caught in no time, having displayed the Santas in their window a few blocks away. Like we said, South Philly loves to go all out with holiday decorations.
If you have any info or recognize the suspect, please contact Philadelphia Police at 215.686.TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP (773847). You can also submit an anonymous tip online at PhillyPolice.com.
LoMo? Are we creating new neighborhood names again? 11th and Fitzwater is in Bella Vista/Hawthorne.
I apologize, I misread the address.
Hey Jake,
No worries! As an FYI, LoMo is the nickname for Lower Moyamensing, which is bound by Snyder and Oregon Ave. to the north/south and Broad and 7th St. to the west/east.
