Mexican restaurant coming to former Strip Joint spot at 22nd and Carpenter

The former Philly Strip Joint spot at 22nd and Carpenter is set to become a Mexican restaurant.

What was SoWe at 918 S. 22nd St., to be Philly Strip Joint.
A look a the location prior to it becoming Philly Strip Joint.

The new restaurant called Los Camaradas will be run by Joseph and Theresa Rimmer Scull. Joseph was the chef of Solaris Grille in Chestnut Hill and Theresa was the beverage manager at La Calaca Feliz in Fairmount.

More on the new restaurant from Michael Klein of The Insider:

Details are skimpy, but I’m told that the menu will be traditional dishes with a contemporary approach.

The bar will feature a wide selection of tequilas and mezcals, in addition to craft beer and cocktails.

When it opens in mid-February, it will serve dinner daily from 4 p.m. with weekend brunch planned in the near future.

We’ll keep you updated as we learn more about this new restaurant. In the meanwhile, you can check out Los Camaradas’ Facebook page.

Another one bites the dust. I believe that’s the 4th restaurant to die in that space, all tried the slightly upscale approach. Fascinating to watch this dead space.

I think this space will do better once more residential / commercial projects get built on Washington ave.
