The rest of the King of Jeans sign is being taken down today
We told you on Thursday that the “King of Jeans” portion of the sign was being taken down. Now it appears that the rest of the sign is being removed today.
According to a statement made by East Passyunk Crossing Civic Association’s zoning chair, David Goldfarb, the sign will find a new home at Provenance Salvage in Northern Liberties.
Conrad Benner of the Streets Dept spotted part of the sign at Provenance Salvage over the weekend.
Although it was said in Goldfarb’s statement that the sign may not be resold, Benner mentioned that they might still be looking to give the sign away to a Philly institution.
For more than 20 years now, the sign has been a strange, but mostly loved piece of history on the avenue. Check out these photos Philly Mag posted of the sign being installed back in 1994.
Are you sad to see the King of Jeans go?
DJCRE and Larry Lichtman’s phones must be blowing up. So much publicity.
I really loved that sign though! I love how she’s down on the ground looking up to him…
