First Pics: Lil Java now open at 18th and Ritner
A new Indonesian cuisine restaurant called Lil Java is now open at 1739 W. Ritner St.
The restaurant, which opened about three weeks ago, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
Lil Java aims to created a relaxing and comfortable vibe, both with their food and decor.
The menu includes traditional breakfast items, like eggs and pancakes, but you can also get Indonesian-specific items like Roti bakar, which is Indonesian toast.
According to the owner, a favorite from the menu is the bakwan campur, which is beef meatball stuffed with tofu and wonton. As the weather is getting warmer, he also suggested the Es Campur and Es Teler, which are shaved ice with mixed fruit and condensed milk. Lil Java also offers a special, different menu on Thursdays and Sundays.
In the future, Lil Java hopes to add Indonesian coffee to the menu (they currently only have Vietnamese coffee), in addition to adding things such as WiFi to create a cafe-like environment for the establishment.
The restaurant offers eat-in, take out and delivery within a few miles of the restaurant.
Lil Java is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. through 9 p.m. They currently do not have a website, but you can find them on Yelp.
Hey prov u have to be the biggest douce bag ever all u do is give negative comments get a life
Its interesting that somebody has no life and uses “ProvWitout” to say some dumb shit. They are so bored that there is no conversation that they need to use it to make a fake argument about something.
The “douce bag” you are referring to is most likely Anthony G or somebody else with a similarly boring life who needs a bad guy to argue with… If we could have our own password protected user names on here, you would understand that. But until then, everyone can just use ProvWitout and put in a fake email… Keep getting duped you idiots.
Don’t you people get it?!?!
No, they don’t. Or they don’t WANT to get it… They need somebody to point their finger at and say “thats the bad guy”… LoL
But then how else will we be able to make a mockery of born and raised south philly people? We need to be able to take a person’s one opinion about something and make it look like that person is an absolutist about every single issue! We need to be able to dumb down things!
Wow… now there’s four cheesesteak jabronies??
I’ve always wanted to use the word “jabronies”!!!! Ever since my favorite wrestler, The Rock, used to call people that!!!
Those Indonesian hipster coffee places are so annoying…
Agreed! They are a dime a dozen.
I mean, a Dunkin Donuts would fit the area sooo much better.
This place is a great addition to the neighborhood! Glad it’s getting some attention. The guy who runs front of house is super nice and has done a thorough job explaining the Indonesian items on the menu to me. If vegetarian options are a concern for you or fish/shrimp allergies, let him know; the kitchen can make a few things vegan, vegetarian, and/or shrimp-free. I’m partial to the tahu tek: rice with bean sprouts and fresh veggies, fried tofu, and peanut sauce.
It’s not a coffee shop, and I doubt that it’s trying to appeal to hipsters. As mentioned in the first line of this article, it’s an Indonesian restaurant.
For Pete’s sake, LOOK ON A MAP. Or READ something. Java is the largest island in Indonesia, home to the majority of the Indonesian population. Javanese is also one of the languages spoken there. As the article clearly states, this is an Indonesian restaurant, which “hopes to add Indonesian coffee to the menu”.
LOL. Please be trolling.
I miss Malone’s.
