First Pics: Jeri’s Curio is now open at 1726 E. Passyunk Ave.
The former Knack location at 1726 E. Passyunk Ave. is now the home of Jeri’s Curio.
The new shop opened on Saturday and features art, jewelry, handcrafted soaps and more from Pennsylvania-based artists, in addition to various vintage items.
Jewelry featured at the shop is by artists including Gaia Darling Jewelry, Valerie Velvet Jewelry, Leah Creation Jewelry and also some vintage pieces.
The artworks displayed on the walls are from artists including Mike Snelson, Matthew Faisetty, Clayton Thomas and more.
Also sold at the shop are handmade soaps from Tin Goat and Landed Gentress.
In addition to the handcrafted artworks, jewelry and goods from local artists, Jeri’s Curio also specializes in vintage gaming items.
The shop encourages anyone who wants to play a game of chess or scrabble to just stop in the store and play a game whenever they want.
There will also be weekly game nights at Jeri’s Curio, starting this week.
Tuesday nights are for backgammon, Wednesdays for chess and Thursdays for scrabble. So if you want to play a game with some neighbors, stop in on those nights between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Hour for Jeri’s Curio are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. through 8 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. through 5 p.m. You can find more info on Jeri’s Curio’s website.
Oh good. Another useless store opened on Passyunk Ave.
Thank you for your opinion, Negative Nancy.
I generally have zero enthusiasm for more stores selling hip tchotchkies on the Ave, but I stumbled in here during Second Saturday and I really liked this place. No, I’m not in the market for a new (old) chess set, and yes, there a bunch of places that sell soap and candles, but Jeri seems super cool and I love the idea of drop-in game nights. I’ve always wanted to learn to play chess and my boyfriend won’t play Scrabble with me.
I don’t know how sustainable the shop will be given that (I presume) it will need to sell the stuff within to say open…but I dig the community and social aspect Jeri’s trying to foster.
Oh, look, ProvWItout is now posting as “Bob”. How novel.
Its really a shame… I read an article. I like what I’ve read.. I go down to the comments to talk about how I think its cool. Then I see idiots like you who only are trolling the comments sections saying something stupid like you just did… You have no life. You’re obsessed with me. I own you…
Hey Bob, why don’t you keep your shit comments to yourself.
Yours truly!
Kira
@Bob – Oh good. Another useless idiot posting on the Internet.
