First Pics: Gourmet popcorn shop now open at 1321 S. 2nd St.

If you live in Pennsport, you’ve probably noticed the red awning with white polka dots that popped up at 1321 S. 2nd St. on the former Brown Chicken Brown Cow location.

A gourmet popcorn shop called MoJo’s Pop Co. just opened up in the location over the weekend and will be serving up gourmet toffee popcorn, ice cream and coffee.

Owner Maigan Namiotka, who lives just a few blocks from the shop in Pennsport, started this gourmet popcorn business with her mother a few years ago. They began with selling popcorn at farmer’s markets and have now expanded to also have a physical storefront.

Since they still sell at farmer’s markets, this storefront will only be open to customers on the weekends and will function as a factory store for making the popcorn on weekdays.

At this shop they will sell bags of their pre-made toffee popcorn in flavors like cinnamon pecan, cayenne cashew, hazelnut espresso and more. In addition to their pre-made bags, they also will have warm, made-that-day popcorn available. There are three different sizes of popcorn bags, which sell for $5, $8 and $15. They also offer a bucket that can be purchased for $18 and will cost just $12 for refills.

In addition to popcorn, the shop sells ice cream from Jenny & Frank’s Artisan Gelato and coffee from Golden Valley Farms. They currently have three flavors of ice cream, which can also be made into a sundae with some MoJo’s popcorn on top.  

In the future they may expand to include more coffee options, ice cream flavors, sundae specials and more.

MoJo’s Pop Co. is planning on having an official grand opening on July 11 with music, games and giveaways.
