New festival called South Philly Sausage Fest coming to Newbold
A new festival will be bringing plenty of sausages, craft beer and fun to Newbold in September.
This new festival, called South Philly Sausage Fest, will be held on West Passyunk Avenue at Broad Street.
Seeing that the festival is called Sausage Fest, you can expect to have plenty of sausage-related food options at the event. Food vendors include Cafe y Chocolate, Chaat and Chai, Chucks Homemade Water Ice, Grubhouse, Miss Rachel’s Pantry, Philly Pretzel Factory and Taproom on 19th.
To complement all of the sausage you’ll probably be consuming, there are also a number of craft breweries that will be serving up drinks at the event. The Conshohocken Brewing Company, Philadelphia Brewing Company, Point Breeze Brewing Company, Saint Benjamin Brewing Company, Sly Fox Brewing Company and Weyerbacher Brewing Company will all be at the festival. So you will definitely have a fair share of choices beer-wise.
There will also be entertainment for the kids with a moon bounce, face painting and sidewalk art.
This event is being held by the Newbold Community Development Corporation to raise money for their street cleaning program. The cleaning program is in partnership with Horizon House, which assists adults with developmental disabilities, drug and alcohol problems and homelessness. The Newbold CDC hires Horizon House’s cleaning crew to clean up the commercial areas along West Passyunk Avenue and Snyder Avenue from Broad to 19th Streets.
South Philly Sausage Fest is on Saturday, September 12 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. You can check out the website for the event here.
Yay! Something fun and hip on West Passyunk. I love it.
In order for the festival to run smoothly, we’ll need volunteers! You’ll get a free tshirt and one free beer for each 2 hr shift. To sign up go here: http://vols.pt/iHd7v7
