First Pics: A look inside the recently-renovated Plenty Cafe
Plenty Cafe at 1710 E. Passyunk Ave. was closed for most of the summer. While their sandwiches were missed on East Passyunk Avenue, they were closed for a good reason.
Last Friday, Plenty reopened after a few months of renovations. Improvements have been made to the interior, along with new food and drink options for dinner and alcoholic beverages thanks to the cafe’s new liquor license.
In 2012 the cafe added the larger coffee bar to the space, now it has been transformed into a different kind of bar. You are now able to grab drinks from a menu of 6 draft beers, 6 draft wines, along with numerous other bottled options for beer and wine. There’s a cocktail list, including drinks like the Korean Bloody Mary.
Previously Plenty operated as more of a breakfast and lunch spot to grab coffee or sandwiches, now you can enjoy some more internationally-inspired food at dinner thanks to a new evening and “Bites & Boards” menu.
You can read more about the changes to Plenty here. If you’re planning on stopping by, counter service is still available each day until 4 p.m., before becoming table service for dinner. Hours are from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends.
Looks nice, but I can’t really see it as place to be open until 2 AM, especially on weeknights.
One of the Laziest redux’s i’ve seen
I would always gush over that recycled shipping crate bar they had going on – it appears that is no longer there. Place still looks great though. If they can tap into some of the exclusive drafts that Fountain Porter gets (Tired Hands, Carton, Hill Farmstead) – it would be a draw for me, but until then – it’ll be a once in a while type place especially competing against the likes of said FP, Devil’s Den, P.O.P.E.
I was there. Same food. Same small space. Now w booze. Not sure that will be a draw with all the other pubs on the ave. Looks nice though. Not sure the market they are going after.
My guess is they’re trying to tap the middle-age market. People who don’t mind spending an extra buck per pint, and prefer not to use the filthy POPE bathrooms or deal with hipster masses at Cantina.
