Snockey’s Crab House closes after 103 years in business
Goodbye, Snockey’s.
After a whopping 103 years in business, the crab house at 1020 S. 2nd St. has now closed for good.
Around this time last year, the building and the business were put on the market for $1.3 million. Owners Ken and Skip Snock decided to call it quits, seeing that no one else was willing to take over the family business.

“We thought, ‘Let’s keep the restaurant open because it’s much easier to sell a restaurant that’s open,’” he said.
But every prospective buyer has been more interested in the real estate piece than the oyster house. “It’s all condos, condos, condos,” Snock said. “We have been staying open for the wrong reasons.”
Snock said they had a “viable offer” on the table.
Snockey’s last day was on Sunday, November 29.
Not surprised. Went there a year ago. It was the nastiest seafood I have ever tried to eat. Place was riddled with bugs. Adios!
Freshest seafood always. Loved the oysters at Clammy Hour. Unpretentious. Friendly staff. Dedicated. We will miss you Snockeys. Thank you for bringing the shore to the city for all of these years.
Disagree, the food was awful. When I left, they were getting pre-packaged food delivered. Boxed soups and sides from Phillips seafood and frozen vegetables and fish. The italian market is a few blocks away, they should of taken advantage.
