Fourth and Cross reopens after reconceptualizing
Fourth and Cross opened earlier this year as a new farm-to-table restaurant with an American-bistro feel in Pennsport.
A few weeks ago, owner Andrew Michaels decided that something needed to be done to change things up at the restaurant. After having been closed for a few weeks, the restaurant is open again with a slightly different concept.
More from Eater:
Tonight marks the official reopening of the new and improved Fourth and Cross, with a new dinner and dessert menu designed and cooked by Michaels, himself. Weekend brunch, for the time being, is suspended until spring, with the team focusing all their efforts on turning the restaurant into a serious dinner destination in sleepy Pennsport.
Instead of just heading to Fourth and Cross for the atmosphere you saw when it first opened, you’ll be able to stop in for a candle-lit dinner with a revamped menu to fulfill the vision that Michaels has for the space. You can find the menu here. Fourth and Cross will now be taking dinner reservations via OpenTable.
I’m all for local small businesses, especially good restaurants that aren’t necessarily pubs. But until this place is “reconceptualized” with a different owner, I’ll pass. This guy is too full of himself to take seriously and his restaurant (and staff) suffer as a result.
Hi durty v,
Pretty easy to post an anonymous comment on the internet. Harder to respond to a negative comment but I’m going to take a crack at it. I’ll leave it up to my customers to decide if they enjoy what I’ve done at Fourth and Cross in the past, or in the future. Many have enjoyed it and I’ve read the reviews from those who haven’t. Some mistakes in a new business are guaranteed to happen and some of the criticisms are valid and I do my best to take them into account and learn from them and put any constructive criticisms into effect.
As far as name calling though…well, at least I put my name on what I produce. You should try it sometime.

P.S. Thank you to all of our loyal guests. We enjoy being able to serve you the best way we know how. Looking forward to seeing you all again very soon.
I wish them luck, but so sad it will stop being a place to casually visit, like for brunch. Seems like it will be turning into a place like the many upscale restaurants on Passyunk Ave, when it was filling a sorely-needed demand in the area as a more casual destination.
Hi Novascoty….
.Brunch has only been suspended until the spring. I wanted to concentrate on getting our new menu and staff up and running before we reembark on the insanity that is brunch. I love brunch , too. Don’t worry. Thank you for the good wishes and I hope to see you soon at Fourth and Cross.
Best wishes,
Andrew

Long awaited, enjoyed for about 4+ months. Then poof gone, but sorely needed.
Fun while it lasted.
?
An owner who feels the need to respond to every post on this site lol.
HHH,
Not every one. Bit of a double edged sword responding or not. If I do I look defensive. If I don’t I look out of touch. So, I’m just going to keep responding to the ones where I feel its helpful. Thanks,
Andrew

We need something like this further south. Maybe if it takes off the owner can consider opening another one further deep in South Philly. 😉
