Bonnie’s Capistrano Bar improves exterior with new signage, updated facade
Bonnie’s Capistrano Bar at 1503 S. 13th St. has been in business since 1974. Now that this neighborhood bar is over 42 years old, it was time for an upgrade.
The bar now has a outdoor new sign and upgraded facade, giving the old bar a new look.
Improvements to the facade began at the end of 2015. The new signage was just installed last week.
What do you think of the new-and-improved Bonnie’s?
Looks great. Looked cooler without the new sign. There is a nice stone on the building front that says “Bonnies”, which they might have considered using as the signage instead of the hanging sign to keep with their under-the-radar vibe. Either way, the update makes the block look better. Nice job.
It looks great. I wonder if it is still like walking into a smokebox though. I went in once before the reno–it actually tasted like tabacco when you walk in and the smoke was so thick, I didn’t even stay to get a beer.
Looks great, now they just need to buy a new smoke eater.
This would be my go-to neighborhood spot if it was non-smoking.
Here comes the hipster signage. There go the low prices.
Hipster signage? If anything was going to draw in hipsters, it would have been the old sign.
New facade and signage. Pfft… a bar full of hipster’s smoking cigarettes? No thanks.
^^^Bunch of whiners. Concerned about hipsters and ciggs… New sign is dope, and nothing will change. Your dainty reservations make you a different breed of hipster.
“new sign is dope” – self identifying cigg smoking hipster.
not really sure how I can be a “new breed” if I was drinking beer at the POPE when it was Big Ralph’s.
Different doesn’t mean new
I miss that ticket window. But it makes the block look better.
