Vare-Washington to see $100,000 in improvements for United Way Day of Service in September
Southwark Elementary isn’t the only area school seeing some big improvements.
Vare-Washington, located at 1198 S. 5th St., has been chosen as a location for the United Way Day of Service in September. With the honor of hosting this service day comes the receipt of funding for $100,000 for improvements to the school and over 300 volunteers for the event in September.
According to Friends of Vare-Washington, the plan is to create an improved playground area with new play equipment, greenery, chess tables and more. This is still in early development stages, so Principal Duberstein and the school are working to get blueprints drawn up for the project.
