20 apartments, four single-family homes coming to Hawthorne development
The 1200 block of Bainbridge Street will soon be seeing some changes now that a project has been approved for the location by the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
One building will be renovated, while another will be demolished to make way for 20 apartments, along with a total of 4 single-family homes.
More from Naked Philly:
One part of the project will mean the renovation of the four-story building in the image above and its conversion to twenty apartments. This building has some interesting history, dating back to the early 20th century and originally serving as the home base of J. Bloom & Sons, a wholesale bottle dealer. It’s certainly a plus that the building will stick around. Next door, a one-story garage won’t be so lucky, with plans for demolition and eventually two new homes on Bainbridge and two new homes on Kater. Like the building they’re replacing, the new homes will have garages.
Is the four-story building in question the Ready Willing and Able headquarters?
Yes, the former ready willing and able, the new location is down the street.
I guess the ZBA forgot we aren’t privatizing the street with mid-block garage anymore.
No more street-facing garages. Why can the ZBA not get this through their thick heads?
