Restaurant called La Mula Terca to open soon near 22nd and Snyder
The owner of Cafe y Chocolate and the head mixologist for the Zavino-Tredici restaurant group are teaming up for a Latin American BYO at 2053 S. Beechwood St.
This new Point Breeze restaurant in the former Muzo’s Chicken & Steaks location will blend together Israel Nocelo and Arturo Lorenzo skills for a restaurant that serves street food that you’d find in Puebla, Mexico, along with custom cocktails created with whatever spirits guests decide to bring with them.
From Billy Penn:
He’s excited about simple dishes done right. Look for fresh fruit like mango or jicama with house chile-lime salt, various montaditos (think crostini), corn esquites (not mushy, he promises) and guacamole made tableside. Ceviches and tiraditos will be made with just three or four ingredients and plated simply, not fussed over.
Most of the food will be small plates, ranging from $5 to $10, but Nocelo does plan a few entrees. A Brazillian-style skirt steak with chimichurri, for example, and crispy fish a la talla — fried whole and served on brown paper with a wedge of lime, just like on the side of the road in Acapulco.
La Mula Terca is aiming for a late-July or early-August opening. You can keep up with the restaurant on Instagram.
please, please, please make the outside area appealing. I’d love to see a smaller scale Cantina-like outside w/seating/waiting area. This section of snider could has so much potiental but lacks any curb appeal.
Awesome, awesome news. After reading the Billy Penn article I’m very excited about this place. Slowly but surely W. Passyunk is bubbling up…there’s a lot more news to come this year.
