First Pics: East Passyunk Avenue new children’s toy shop is now open
Your children now have a new East Passyunk Avenue destination.
Michelle and Paul Gillen-Doobrajh opened Tildie’s Toy Box over the weekend at 1829 E. Passyunk Ave. The shop is filled to the brim with toys for kids from birth through 14-years-old.
The store focuses on toys and games that encourage children to think outside of the box, using their creativity and imagination in new ways. The majority of items in the store are not battery-powered. The items in stock include everything including science kits, crafting supplies, plush toys, books, puzzles and plenty of other fun play items to keep your kids occupied.
Tildie’s Toy Box decided on an East Passyunk Avenue storefront to bring more children’s activities to this portion of the city. The owners also emphasize that opening shops such as this one may encourage many parents to stay in the city instead of moving away once they have kids.
There’s a couch and play castle for kids to hang out at in the back of the shop, meant to act as a reading nook and play space. By September, Tildie’s hopes to host events at the store to encourage playing and learning. Story time, yoga for kids and other activities are possibilities at the shop.
Tildie’s Toy Box is open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can also check out the shop’s website and Facebook page.
This looks great! A fantastic addition to the avenue. As a homeowner/parent in east passyunk, I love seeing stuff like this.
