Take a peek at Project P.L.A.Y. School’s new Bok location
Among the announcements in early-2016 for new Bok school tenants was Project P.L.A.Y. School. The play-based preschool is for children between the ages of 27-months-old and 5-years-old.
Now that school is in session, here’s a peek at the new classroom space at Bok.
Since 2005, Project P.L.A.Y. has been based out of Elkins Park under the direction of educators Karen Chayot and Kathy Goldenberg. The preschool program uses the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education, with an emphasis on encouraging play and creating relationships with friends, family and the community.
In addition to the indoor classroom space, an outdoor space is being created for the school thanks to the Knight Foundation grant Scout Ltd. received to make a “South Philly stoop.”

Does this place have a nurse on staff? Or is it more a Lord of the Flies type situation?
You could always email/call them directly instead of posting anonymous comments on PassyunkPost…just a thought.
Private schools aren’t required to have a nurse, and most public schools in Philadelphia can’t even afford one. I’m sure if a student isn’t feeling well or scrapes his or her knee, the staff can give them a Band-Aid and call their parents, which is precisely what a school nurse does.
Do any preschools have a fulltime nurse on staff?
Hey DJ – this is the second location for a well respected and excellent school that is also in Elkins Park. Many parents in the neighborhood were thrilled to have them open as a option for our kids. They’ve poured a ton of money, love and effort in making that space special.
