Recycle your Christmas tree on January 7

Now that Christmas is over and the holiday season is starting to come to a close, it’s time to think about getting rid of the tree sitting in your living room.

Instead of putting it out for trash day, you can recycle your tree at a few community events on Saturday, January 7.

There are numerous South Philly locations that will be having tree recycling drop-offs. Columbus Square at 13th and Reed, Bainbridge Green at 4th and Bainbridge, Jefferson Square at 4th and Washington, Carpenter Green at 1701 Montrose and the Rite Aid at 9th and Catharine will all be hosting events. Queen Village Civic Association and Greenlimbs will also be hosting additional locations. To find out more about the Queen Village events, check out this page.

If you leave your tree at the curb, it will not be recycled. These events give you the opportunity to have your tree repurposed in the form of wood chips that will be used locally at parks and gardens. A $5 donation is encouraged to cover the cost of the tree chipping.
