Lincoln Square is Getting a Target at Broad and Washington
Back in December it was a maybe, but now it’s official: A 36,000-square-foot Target Store at Broad Street and Washington Avenue will anchor the Lincoln Square residential and retail project.
Construction at the site began months ago. An October 2018 opening date is projected.
Metro Commercial Brokers, which has represented Target in all of its Philly deals, said the locations are attractive to the retailer for one big reason: “The six locations are all located in high-traffic, high-density areas of the city where guests can benefit from Target’s small-format stores,” said Steve Niggeman, Metro Commercial’s executive vice president.
Plans for the 286,170-square-foot Lincoln Square project were first announced in March 2016, a joint venture between Alterra Property Group and MIS Capital. Kimco Realty recently acquired a 90 percent ownership interest in the development, which will bring 322 apartments, a parking garage, restaurants, and retail to the northwest corner of South Broad and Washington.
In addition to Target, there will be a 16,000-square-foot Petsmart. And a historic train shed on the property will be converted into a 32,000-square-foot grocery store. The tenant has not yet been named. – Curbed Philly
This Target has no idea what it’s in for on January 1, 2019.
Personally, I think this will be a great addition for those of us who don’t like to go to Columbus Blvd. And I’m looking very forward to the rest of this to be completed. I read that the train shed had a grocery store coming. Anyone know what company? Please tell me it’s NOT Acme.
Clearly, I skipped reading the last part above. Forget me above post.
thank god is NOT an Acme!
I’ve heard that it’s “sprouts”. They’re breaking into the philly market.
The train shed has a lot of potential to be very cool.
Forgive me if I’m mistaken, but isn’t this the northwest corner of Broad and Washington and not the southwest corner as the article suggests?
It is, and the Post could add a correction, but it was not their mistake since it is in the quote from Curbed.
Fixed. Thanks!
I’m really struggling to like these mini Targets. There’s already a CVS and a Shoprite within 3 blocks from that location, which both basically offer the same products. I was excited to think that I could hop the BSL for a quick Target run, but it seems like I’ll still be taking the 79 to Snyder Plaza even after this opens.
I wish the grocer would be Trader Joe’s, but that’s unlikely probably. They’d kill it though. South Philly is perfect for TJ.
Wegman’s in Philly!!!!!Washington/Broad would be a perfect location.I would like to see here Home Goods and T.J Maxx rather than Target!!!Targets are all around!!!!!
