Next week is the 2017 NFL Draft which, if you didn’t already know, is taking place in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. With an expected 200,000 fans coming through, road closures and parking logistics for area residents have been a nightmare.

But the City of Philadelphia has a solution. Let them park in South Philly!

Visiting fans are being encouraged to park at sports complex and utilize SEPTA’s Broad Street Line.

Free parking for the NFL Draft Experience is available in South Philadelphia at both Citizens Bank Park and the Wells Fargo Center beginning 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, and continuing through Saturday, April 29. In addition, fans exploring the annual Penn Relays event at Franklin Field in West Philadelphia are also invited to park for free and ride SEPTA as a convenient transportation option.

So the parking is free but you’ve got to buck up roughly $2.25 per person to hop on the Broad Street Line. I’d suggest you bring cash as well but you can also attempt to get a SEPTA Key card now because it’s 2017. – DiscoverPHL

    This is a perfectly reasonable solution, yet I can’t help but detect a hint of negativity in the article itself. A car packed with FIVE adult NFL draft attendees can park for free and take Septa, round-trip, for $22.50 for everyone. Good luck finding a downtown parking garage with comparable rates. I don’t expect it to bring much economic influx to South Philly neighborhoods, but it’s addressing downtown congestion and spreading awareness that WOW, public transit may actually be a great option for urban activity, for both citizens and visitors alike.
