Free weekend events: Friday Night Bites; Pumpkin Fall Fest; East Passyunk Ave. Fall Fest; CrossFit 2 St. Party

Looking for something to do in South Philly this weekend?

There are plenty of opportunities for food, drinks and fun at all of these events.

Friday Night Bites – Friday, Oct. 24

Throughout the month of October, the Fleisher Art Memorial has hosted Friday Night Bites events with various entertainment and food. This Friday marks the last of these events in October with a harvest hoedown with bluegrass band The Citywide Specials and food from The Flying Deutschman.

The event is free to the public on Friday from 6 p.m. through 9 p.m. More information on the event can be found here.

Pumpkin Fall Festival – Saturday, Oct. 25

The South Street Headhouse District’s fall festival is back for its 5^th year on Saturday with plenty of entertainment. The event features circus arts performances from the professional aerial performance troupe based at the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts. In addition to the circus arts, there will also be dance performances, live music, a magician, free hayrides and more. Of course there will also be a selection of food and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, in addition to the restaurants and bars in the area.

East Passyunk Avenue Fall Festival – Saturday, Oct. 25

On Saturday, East Passyunk Avenue will be filled will festivities to get you into the spirit of Halloween. For kids, there will be free pumpkin decorating, arts and crafts, trick or treating down the Avenue and costume contests (don’t forget to dress up your dog, too!). There will be a selection of food and drinks from food trucks and local establishments like Stateside, The Tot Cart, Bottle Bar East, Ms. Goody Cupcake and more.

Washington Avenue Scarecrow Contest & Fall Fest – Saturday, Oct. 25

Have you been to the new Washington Avenue Pier yet? Come down to Washington Ave. and Columbus Blvd. for some fun fall activities. 10 a.m. to noon is the scarecrow decorating contest for those who reserved them in advance as well as voting. The fun runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for all kinds of family-friendly activities including Make and Take Crafts, Guided Nature Hike, Birding, music, refreshments and MORE!

CrossFit 2 St. Party – Sunday, Oct 26

One year ago, CrossFit 2 St. opened their doors in Pennsport. In celebration of their first year, they are hosting an event for the public on Sunday. In addition to tours of “The Box” and the chance to meet the coaches on staff, they will be unveiling the gym’s new boot camp program. All attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with a registered dietitian and the will be able to sign up for a discounted membership. But don’t worry, there’s more to this party than just working out. Sum Pig Food Truck will be at the event, in addition to more food and beverage options.
