National Night Out event at Julian Abele Park to encourage public safety
South of South Neighborhood Association is hosting a Light up the Night event for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4 at Julian Abele Park.
The purpose of National Night Out is to talk about safety and crime prevention in your neighborhood and to make a connection with the police officers who service your area.
This Light up the Night event encourages you to turn on the light on your front stoop to light up the streets for a safer environment. It also includes the opportunity to meet and greet with your local police officers from the 17th district to ask them questions, or just to say hello. Later in the evening, you will have the opportunity to join the South of South Town Watch for a group patrol of the neighborhood.
This event includes plenty of entertainment for kids, with a tour of a fire truck, lawn games and more. You can also grab a bite to eat at the event from a food truck that will be stationed at the park.
Light up the Night is happening on Tuesday, August 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Julian Abele Park at 22nd and Carpenter. You can find out more about the event here.
