Park(ing) Day pop-ups in South Philly
If you were out-and-about around the city on Friday, September 18, you might have spotted a few pop-ups in metered parking spaces as part of Park(ing) Day. In case you’re unaware, Park(ing) Day is a day to transform parking spaces into temporary public parks.
This is Philly’s eighth year participating, and this year, there were two pop-ups in South Philly.
The United Merchants of the S. 9th Street Business Association had one near 9th and Carpenter. Since the pope’s visit to Philly is almost here, they decided to do a papal-related pop-up with a cardboard cutout of Pope Francis to officiate some wedding ceremonies on 9th Street near Carpenter Street.
Moon + Arrow, a boutique at 754 S. 4th St., also had a pop-up outside of their storefront with greenery and a table for you to sit and read at.
Did you see any cool pop-ups elsewhere in the city for Park(ing) Day?
