New Executive Director named for Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation
In November we found out that Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation‘s Executive Director would be stepping down in 2016. Since Sam Sherman joined PARC in 2011, he has worked on development projects to create a better East Passyunk Avenue, with more than $6.2 million invested into the commercial corridor.
Bryan Fenstermaker has now been named as Sherman’s replacement. Fenstermaker has experience as the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at The Enterprise Center Community Development Corporation in West Philly. He will begin this new role at PARC on April 20.
At the Enterprise Center, Fenstermaker worked on a number of projects that aided the development of the organization. He worked on a business plan for a restaurant incubator that was launched in 2012, led the implementation of a $89k grant for developing an urban farm and neighborhood park, along with plenty more tasks related to community outreach and development.
PARC works on projects that will better the commercial corridor. These range from the renovation of buildings along the street to bigger pedestrian improvements and community spaces. Fenstermaker will continue to make these improvements and more happen on East Passyunk Avenue.
Sherman has plans to remain at PARC for a few weeks after Fenstermaker begins to help him transition into the role. After that, Sherman will be making the move to a new position in Detroit, Michigan.
