Greenstreet Coffee planning new cafe for 1134 Dickinson St.

Greenstreet Coffee creates their coffee blends out of a location near Washington Avenue in Point Breeze. While the coffee may be made in South Philly, up to this point the only shop for Greenstreet is located on Spruce Street in Washington Square West.

South Philly is now about to get a Greenstreet cafe. This new coffee shop is expected to open in July at 1134 Dickinson St.

In November an orange liquor license placard, noting the Boyler Room bar as the applicant, popped up on the location. We’re still unsure of what the plans were for the bar, but clearly it did not come to fruition. Instead of a bar serving alcohol, the location will be getting a coffee brew bar.

Owners of Greenstreet, Tom and Chris Molieri, are planning their drink menu to include espresso drinks, batch brewing and a brew bar for pour over drinks. They’ll also be offering some locally-made pastries at the shop to start.

Hours will be from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends. You can read more about Greenstreet’s coffee shop and roasting on their website.

Saw the sign yesterday! Love Greenstreet, but super confused because I thought Rival Bros was opening at 11th and Tasker… Is there such a thing as too many coffee shops?

      No such thing.

exact same thoughts. There’s no way black n brew, b2, rival, and greenstreet all survive, is there?

I hope they do, but gonna be tough.

B2, business and the building have been listed for sale since before the Rival Bros opening was announced.

Black and Brew and B2 don’t really have high quality coffee, plus they both also serve yummy food that should keep them in business just fine. I think sit down coffee shops with full kitchens can exist along side “upscale” cafes that target people that want fancier coffee.

not for nothing but we wouldnt mind a couple down in lomo…come on down!

Joey, I agree with you 100 percent, but WHERE in LoMo would an independent coffee shop survive with Starbucks and Dunkin’ two blocks away from eachother on Broad, essentially catering to both income levels of the coffee-drinking South Philadelphian demographic spectrum? I’ve lived here for two years and I don’t think the neighborhood is quite ready, just yet. MAYBE when/if the abandoned factory luxury condo development at 12th & Jackson happens, but not before then.

I think most people would rather support an independent locally owned and operated business that brews good coffee and serves better quality food than a starbucks or a dunkin donuts. there’s a dunkin donuts at passyunk and reed, yet benna’s, b2, black and brew, chhaya, and more coming…they all survive, and are all equally busy. and that dunkin donuts still does good business and survives!

there are plenty of vacant corner stores, corner stores not doing enough business, and buildings in lomo for a coffee shop or two. just hoping someone smart enough to notice a neighborhood in need, and to capitalize on that.

also i can’t be the only person who enjoys a GOOD cup of coffee. dunkin donuts and starbucks is just disgusting.

Sounds like you and I both enjoy a GOOD cup of coffee; I just think we’re a bit outnumbered until more GOOD coffee lovers make the move to south of Snyder! It would certainly be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Welcome to the neighborhood. Do we know an opening date yet?

B2 employs the absolute most miserable human beings. Rival Bros people are great, and it sounds like these folks are too. I hope they drive B2 right out of business, and back into the hole they crawled out of.

Sounds good to me! I can’t wait for Rival Bros., but this will be a great option.
