Queen Village hardware store named as one of the best in America

We all know that South Philly has some of the best restaurants in the country, but what about hardware stores?

Cohen and Co. Hardware and Homegoods has been in business since 1913. The long-standing retail store at 615 E. Passyunk Ave. has now been named as one of the best in the country from Popular Mechanics magazine.

In Philly’s famous South Street District, Cohen & Co. has been operating since 1913. Old neighbors who may have left the area still come to get glass cut here just as new residents are discovering Cohen & Co. does custom work. Meanwhile, tourists pop in, more often looking for a cheesesteak recommendation than loose nuts and bolts from third-generation owner Mitchell Cohen, though he’s happy to provide both.
