For Pete’s Sake at Front and Christian expanding to second floor

For Pete’s Sake, the longtime taproom holding down the corner at Front and Christian, is planning to bust through its ceiling to take over the second floor of the building.

Representatives from the pub, at 900 S. Front St., went before the Queen Village Neighbors Association zoning committee last week to present revisions to the planned expansion, which includes extending the restaurant to the second floor and creating offices and storage space on the third floor.

At the previous zoning meeting, neighbors had concerns about parking, garbage disposal (mainly excessive cardboard loose and blowing down the street) and the unsightly mechanical equipment on the 2nd-floor outside area.

To address these concerns, reps from For Pete’s Sake said they plan to rope and store the cardboard in the basement or inside the existing trash shade while waiting for recycling. They also plan to build a fence around the mechanical equipment on the second floor to screen it from view and they’ll plant two new trees on Christian Street to further block any unsightliness with lovely green leaves.

Plans are in the works with a nearby lot to offer alternative parking during events at the pub.

With these issues addressed the committee gave its support pending a few loose ends being tied up before the May 6 hearing with the Zoning Board of Adjustment. Looks like soon you’ll have more tables to choose from to load up on hot wings, fish n’ chips, pierogies and beer!
