First Pics: Golden Coast beer distributor finally opens at 1218 Snyder Ave.

Golden Coast beer distributor is finally open at 1218 Snyder Ave., carrying a variety of beers from old standards to more unique craft beers.

The opening of this business was an almost 10-month process for owners Tong Shi and Fen Lin, who first rented the storefront in December with plans of opening in May. Difficulties with their landlord and a citation for falling bricks on the exterior of the building delayed the process, the first-time business owners said.

Last Monday, they finally opened.

The distributor stocks standards including like Miller Lite, Budweiser and Yuengling, in addition to craft beers from companies like Flying Fish, Victory, Dogfish Head and more. If your favorite beer isn’t carried at the store currently, the owners are willing to order it just for you.

Earlier this week, a customer came into the store looking for Narragansett, which the distributor does not currently carry. Fen Lin immediately put in an order for it, as they hope to cater to the wants and needs of those in the neighborhood as they work to grow their clientele.

In the future, Golden Coast also hopes to sell and deliver beer to local restaurants and bars.

Owners Tong Shi and Fen Lin consider Heineken to be their favorite beer.

In addition to beer, Golden Coast also carries snacks like candy, chips and gum. There is also a small case of non-alcoholic beverages like sodas and bottled iced coffees.

As an added incentive for regular customers, Golden Coast offers a rewards card. The more you buy, the more points you earn. After earning 100 points, you will get $2 back on your purchase.

The store originally planned to sell cigarettes and lottery tickets, but decided against both when it came to actually opening the store.

Golden Coast Beer Distributor is open 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. through 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 12 p.m. through 5 p.m. on Sundays. For more information, you can contact the store at 215-560-8251 or fenlin986@yahoo.com.

        Yeah or drink some water…

So, your way of defending the ugliness of this place is by comparing it to the piss of someone who needs medical attention..? LoL. Nice. Thanks for your inadvertent agreement… I agree. It is not only piss yellow… It is sickly piss yellow… Thanks for correcting me.

If this place wants to stay in business, it might help having a website or a listing on yelp for customers to identify a phone number or their hours…….

I am looking to order a PBC pony keg for tonight and would like to check their availability and also walk a block away to pick it up, but may have to call Bella instead…..c’mon man!

Hey, this hood got slapped w/ AVI which means it’s gentrifying, right? Why the local civic approved this is beyond me. I like the how they advertise ‘candy and snacks” gives all the kids from south philly high-whichis less than 2 blocks away a reason to be in there. With any luck it’ll become one of those glam beer places like the one at 7th and Snyder or 9th and Washington and not a money sucking eye sore.

I’d rather go down to the one at Front & Snyder… They have more selection anyway.. And thats where businesses like this belong… Around 2nd Street neighborhood.. Will it go out of business? Probably not… But its still not as good as a half dozen other ideas that were originally being discussed… AND if anybody really cared about this neighborhood and the building as a whole, they would admit that it completely slows down whatever is going to be done with the three vacant floors above… Thats if the owner even has any desire to do anything with the upstairs in the first place… What a waste of potential…

For those of us who don’t own a giant SUV to cart around our lard-ass, a short walk to pick up a case of beer is preferable than a hike down to 2nd St.

BTW, what’s with your beef against the color yellow?? It’s a traditional favorite color in Asia. Kinda like the red-velvet & cheap paneling of Cambodia. Don’t be so prejudice.

Ok.. I drive a 4-cylinder coup… And live in the gym… I’ve said before, you better be in excellent shape when you make that accusation, because I sure am… And have you been watching the news about whats going on in Hong Kong lately..? How come that city isn’t just all bright yellow..? The beef with the color yellow is that the whole neighborhood is that it is a loud ugly eye sore! Sick piss yellow.

Just strolled by they are doing some REALLLLY sketchy looking exterior electrical, nice match to the crappy fix made to the falling exterior masonry. Yes, having a local beer is convenient but they seem to be low class/low rent/take the money and run back to another neighborhood. The location so close to “troubled” SPH is unfortunate. I agree, the building is painted an ugly yellow and it is a very sloppy paint job, too. The space is a massive waste of potential. So very sad. There have been some lovely home and biz renovations on the adjacent blocks recently, too.
