Block party at POPE and more on East Passyunk Avenue for the papal visit

If you’re not planning on fleeing the city on the weekend of September 26, there will still be some fun to be had that will avoid the big Center City crowds expected for the World Meeting of Families.

On East Passyunk Avenue, there will be a block party at our own POPE, along with specials at other businesses.

At Pub on Passyunk East, you can stop by for an outdoor block party on the 1100 block of Dickinson Street on both Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27 from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. You’ll have a chance to try out some “Holy Wooder,” enjoy some food and drink specials, games and even get your picture with a life-size cardboard cutout of Pope Francis. What better place is there to party for the pope’s visit?

Other businesses on East Passyunk Avenue are joining in on the fun too. You can get a “Holy” Cow smoothie from Fuel, enjoy a 4-course “Menu della Papa” meal at Le Virtu, grab a Pope Cider draft at Ray’s Happy Birthday Bar and enjoy the weekend special on the Religieuse Dessert at Vanilya Bakery.

Other non-food-and-drink-related specials include discounts at N.R.S. Boutique and Sermania Jewelry. Frame Fatale will also be selling limited edition papal visit prints.
