Kawaii Kitty Cafe moving forward, aiming for February opening

Philadelphia’s first-ever cat cafe is continuing forward towards a mid-February opening.

This new business called Kawaii Kitty Cafe will operate as a combination cafe and cat adoption center at 759 S. 4th St. on Fabric Row. As of this week, they have announced their Department of Health approval, which places the cafe even closer to their targeted opening date.

As we told you before, Kawaii Kitty Cafe will have two separate rooms, one for the cafe portion, another that’s sectioned off as a cat room. You can enter the room and play with the adoptable cats from PAWS for a small fee. The cat room will have a large window, so you’ll be able to enjoy the company of these felines without having to enter the space.

We just added banana nutella “sushi” to our menu! We have taste tested it about 15 times for umm…science.

Coffee at the cafe will be La Colombe, along with the food menu being from owner Kristin Eissler’s boyfriend, chef Joe Ronca. The menu will include light food options, with items like banana nutella “sushi.”

Seeing that the cafe is moving forward, they’re now seeking some employees. If you’re interested in being a line cook, cat lounge monitor, or barista, contact kawaiikittycafe@gmail.com.

Still looking for a gift for a cat-lover in your life? Kawaii Kitty Cafe is selling gift cards (even some that are cat-shaped) for the holiday season.

This cat cafe is just one of the new shops bringing changes to Fabric Row.
